Materials and treatments

Lozza mainly uses CR39 lenses. Also known as "organic glass" or "hard resin", CR 39 is an excellent alternative to glass for high-quality sunglass lenses, as it makes them lighter and more resistant to shocks. Produced by means of a casting process, CR 39 can also be dyed with ease in a wide range of long-lasting colours. Lozza has recently included crystal lenses in its collections.

Real glass, made by fusing silica and other inorganic oxides together, is the best quality material for lenses from an optical point of view. Colour is obtained by adding metal oxides during the melting process. Glass lenses need to be hardened to make them less fragile.

SOLID TINTS
Lozza's traditional lenses are in solid tints. They can be found in the brand's sunglass collections, mainly in the colours roviex, smoke grey and grey-green.
GRADIENT
The gradient effect is achieved by means of special dyeing techniques applied either for aesthetic or functional reasons. These lenses offer excellent anti-glare protection, whilst maintaining an optimal level of brightness in the direction of the ground and frontwards. One of the best times to use these lenses is when driving; filters shield your eyes considerably from overhead sunlight, whilst offering optimal brightness in the direction of the road and excellent visibility of the dashboard.
MIRRORED
A very thin, almost transparent metal layer is placed on the lens surface. The material used to obtain mirrored lenses is nylon. Widely used in rimless and semi-rimless glasses and in models with drilled lenses, this material is ultra light, provides protection against UVA/UVB rays, and is resistant to shock and static deformation.
POLARISED
An active filter absorbs reflections much more effectively than normal sun lenses, particularly the glare caused by light when it strikes a reflective surface. These lenses are particularly suitable for more extreme lighting conditions (ice, water), and provide higher comfort compared to non-polarised lenses.
ANTI-GLARE
All Lozza models fitted with zero or two base lenses come with an interior anti-glare coating that reduces the reflection caused by the inner surface of the lens. Solar reflections are reduced in models subjected to this treatment, ensuring better visibility, especially in conditions such as driving with the sun shining from the sides or from behind.
